Troubleshooting
Fixes for common problems: out of credits, failed replies, dictation, email not arriving or not sending, notifications, unreadable files, full storage, lost Linux files, workspace commands, browser sign-ins, groups, reminders, connectors and artifacts that use them.
“You’re out of credits”
Section titled ““You’re out of credits””Your balance is zero or below, so Gluon can’t start paid work. Select Add credits in the chat, or open Settings → Plan & usage, and buy credits there when buying is available. Free things, such as reading history and deleting files, keep working. Gluon also emails you and adds an alert to Needs you when it happens; to be warned earlier, turn on a low balance or monthly budget under Alerts on Plan & usage. See Credits and usage.
“Billing is temporarily unavailable”
Section titled ““Billing is temporarily unavailable””Gluon couldn’t check your balance, so it didn’t start paid work. Try again in a moment.
A reply failed or stopped
Section titled “A reply failed or stopped”The chat shows Failed in the list. Send your message again. A reply that produced nothing for 10 minutes is stopped automatically. If a reply was cut off by a restart, the chat says it was interrupted so you can retry; Gluon doesn’t repeat work on its own because an action may already have happened.
My message says it wasn’t sent
Section titled “My message says it wasn’t sent”You can type and send as soon as a chat opens. A message sent while the chat is still connecting shows as Sending… and goes once it connects. If the chat can’t connect within about 15 seconds, the message goes back into the message box, before anything you typed since, with a note that it wasn’t sent. Check your connection and send it again.
Gluon is waiting and nothing happens
Section titled “Gluon is waiting and nothing happens”It’s probably waiting for you: look for an approval card, a question, or the browser asking you to sign in, and check Needs you. Queued messages wait until you answer.
Dictation can’t use my microphone
Section titled “Dictation can’t use my microphone”Your browser blocked the microphone for Gluon. Allow microphone access for Gluon’s site in your browser’s settings, then select the microphone again. If there’s no microphone beside Send at all, your browser can’t record; try another one. See Dictation.
My forwarded email didn’t arrive
Section titled “My forwarded email didn’t arrive”- Forward from your Gluon sign-in address or one of your allowed email addresses.
- For automatic forwarding, or if your provider’s confirmation email never arrives, forward to your forwarding address instead. If you got a new one, update your provider.
- Check that receiving is on in Settings → Email.
- Emails over 10 MiB or with more than 50 attachments are rejected, and so is everything once the inbox holds 1 GiB.
- Arrival takes a few moments while attachments are saved.
Gluon won’t email someone
Section titled “Gluon won’t email someone”Every recipient must be on your allowed email addresses in Settings → Email. Add them there; approving the send can’t override the list. Also check you’ve chosen your Gluon address.
Notifications don’t arrive
Section titled “Notifications don’t arrive”- Turn on Push notifications for this device in Settings → Notifications, then use Send a test.
- On iPhone and iPad, install Gluon on the home screen first.
- Muted chats and groups don’t notify, and nothing is pushed for the chat you have open.
- Check your device and browser allow notifications for Gluon.
Gluon can’t read my file
Section titled “Gluon can’t read my file”- Scanned PDFs have no text layer; Gluon can only look at their pages as images, and there’s no OCR.
- Images over 3 MiB and PDFs over 10 MiB or 100 pages are read as text where possible.
- Password-protected or damaged files can’t be opened.
- DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017 reads PDFs as text only.
- If Gluon says a file, email or artifact doesn’t exist, check that the Files, Mail and Artifacts permissions under Sandbox are on; see Permissions.
“Drive storage is full”
Section titled ““Drive storage is full””A drive holds 5 GB of files and 500 MB of database, and the trash counts. Delete files you don’t need in Drive, then open Trash and choose Empty trash; deleting always works, even when the drive is full. A group’s drive is cleared the same way, and only its owner can empty everything in its trash.
My Linux workspace files are gone
Section titled “My Linux workspace files are gone”Linux files are temporary: they’re deleted a day after the Linux computer last stopped. Ask Gluon to copy results into Just Bash or your Drive before you leave them. See Workspaces.
“command not found” in the workspace
Section titled ““command not found” in the workspace”Just Bash is a simulated shell without Python, Node, git, package installs or internet. In a private chat, ask Gluon to use the Linux workspace instead; it costs credits while it runs. Groups have Just Bash only.
The browser asks me to sign in again
Section titled “The browser asks me to sign in again”Websites expire sessions, ask for verification codes or block automated browsers. Take control, sign in, then choose Done · continue. Saved sign-ins are per profile, so check the task uses the profile you signed in with.
If a site stops opening at all with its saved sign-in, choose Forget beside it in Settings → Browser, then sign in there again the next time. See Browser.
@Gluon did nothing in a group
Section titled “@Gluon did nothing in a group”Your Gluon may be switched off in that group: check Info → Your Gluon here. The composer offers to add it back. Also check you have credits.
A reminder came at the wrong time
Section titled “A reminder came at the wrong time”Gluon uses your device’s time zone. Open Gluon on the device whose time zone you want, or tell Gluon your time zone and ask it to fix the reminder.
I can’t mark a chat done
Section titled “I can’t mark a chat done”A chat waiting for your approval or answer can’t be put away. Answer it first.
An invitation doesn’t work
Section titled “An invitation doesn’t work”Invitations expire after seven days and only work for the Google account with the invited email address. Ask the owner to send a new one. A removed member also needs the owner to allow them back.
A connector shows “Sign-in needed” or “Failed”
Section titled “A connector shows “Sign-in needed” or “Failed””Open it in Settings → Connectors & tools and sign in again. If it keeps failing, remove it and add it again; for servers with an API key, check the header value.
An artifact doesn’t show someone’s data
Section titled “An artifact doesn’t show someone’s data”An artifact that uses connections shows a person’s data only while all of these hold:
- they allowed it, for this group or for themselves, and haven’t withdrawn;
- for someone else’s data, the tool is a read tool they set to Allow, both in the artifact and in their own permissions;
- their connection is ready. If it needs them to sign in again, the artifact may say so in their place, and Gluon notifies them once with a link to reconnect;
- they’re still in the group.
If a new version uses more tools, those tools stay empty until each person allows them from the banner. “This app is calling this connection too often” clears after a minute.
Gluon shows old information
Section titled “Gluon shows old information”Gluon opens with what each page last showed, then refreshes. If you’re offline it keeps the saved copy. When “A new version of Gluon is ready” appears, choose Reload.
