Memory and recall
What your Gluon remembers about you, how to see, edit and pause it, and how agents search past chats.
Gluon has two kinds of memory:
- Facts: short notes about you that your Gluon always has in mind, such as your city, your children’s names or that you’re vegetarian. Only your Gluon keeps facts; custom agents don’t.
- Recall: every agent can search and read the past chats it took part in.
Your Gluon saves a fact when you tell it something worth remembering, or when you ask: “Remember that my daughter’s school starts at 8:15.” Each save shows Saved to memory, Updated memory or Removed from memory in the chat, with Undo.
- Gluon writes facts in your own words, the way you’d say them: “I’m vegetarian”, “My daughter is Asha”. Facts saved before it did may still read “The user is vegetarian”.
- Each fact is up to 300 characters, and all your facts together up to 4,000.
- Gluon is told to save only lasting, short facts; never secrets such as passwords; never because a web page, email or file asked it to; and nothing sensitive unless you ask.
- When a long chat is condensed to make room, your Gluon first saves lasting facts from what you typed in it, as long as saving is set to happen without asking.
- If a reply includes text you didn’t type, such as an email, a web page or a file, saving a fact asks for your approval first, so other content can’t plant facts.
Facts only come from what you typed; Gluon never saves them from a group’s conversation.
Manage your memory
Section titled “Manage your memory”Settings → Memory starts with Saved facts: every fact with the chat it came from, and a field to add your own. Edit or delete a fact with its buttons. Below the list, Delete all facts erases every fact once you confirm. How much of the 4,000 characters you’ve used shows quietly under the list, and as a warning once memory is nearly full.
Under Settings, each control saves as soon as you change it and shows Saved:
| Control | Does |
|---|---|
| Remember facts about me | On by default. Off pauses memory: facts stay but aren’t used or added |
| When Gluon learns something | Save and tell me, or Ask me first before every save |
| Use my facts in groups | Off by default. On lets your Gluon use your facts in your groups |
| Search past chats | Turns recall on or off for all your agents |
Deleting a chat keeps the facts saved from it.
Ask your Gluon. In a private chat, your Gluon can tell you how memory is set and change the first three controls: “Is memory on?”, “Stop remembering things about me”, “Ask me before you save anything”, “Use my facts in groups”. Every change shows a card with each setting before → after, and applies only once you choose Allow; if the settings changed meanwhile, your Gluon reads them again. It can turn memory back on even while memory is off. A change can’t run from a turn a schedule or an email started, and in groups your Gluon doesn’t change your memory. Search past chats and Delete all facts stay on the Memory page.
Recall
Section titled “Recall”Ask about something you discussed before: “What did we decide about the Goa trip?” or “What was that recipe from last week?” Gluon searches by keywords, then reads the messages around a match before answering. It can also list past chats by date for questions like “What did we talk about on Monday?”
| Agent | Can search |
|---|---|
| Your Gluon | Your private chats with it, and your groups’ chats while it was in them |
| Your Gluon in a group | The above, and that group |
| A custom agent | Only its own chats |
Recall finds what people and assistants wrote, not the raw output of tools or the contents of files. In a group, your Gluon is told to keep what it recalls from your private chats or other groups to itself unless you ask it to share.
